PRE-SMOKE |
Typical of Don Pepin's cigars, the Cuban Classic exhibits excellent construction and a triple-cap. The smooth caramel colored wrapper is supple but not oily, with a sweet scent. |

BURN |
Easily toasted and lit, this cigar puts out copious amounts of pungent smoke. The smoke mellows out in aroma after a short while, leaving a light gray ash which was fairly tight. No major burn problems here, and an excellent draw. |

THE FLAVOR |
The Cuban Classic begins with a typical peppery start, then softens to light spice / pepper on top of creamy leather. Some earthiness creeps into the flavor in the middle of the cigar, along with some coffee and roasted cocoa notes. These flavors carry through to the finish, with a toffee-caramel note appearing towards the end. Very hard to keep these in your humidor once you buy them. |

SUGGESTED SINGLE MALT PAIRINGHighland Park 12 Year OldThis match pits a young whisky against a classic cigar and you come out the winner. The sweet citrus and vanilla flavors, and the subtle smokiness of the malt are accented by the pepper and spices of the cigar. Let the long finish of the whisky fade slightly before puffing to get the most enjoyment out of the pairing. SUGGESTED CHOCOLATE PAIRINGChuao - CandelaYou are not going to believe what the smoky chipotle flavors in this bonbon do to contribute to the flavors in the malt and cigar. Just fabulous! |
