The Balvenie 17 Year Old Rum Cask Finish

Matured first in traditional oak whisky casks, the malt then is finished in Jamaican rum casks. Another experiment in finishing that has made The Balvenie range so popular.  The rum casks add a further layer of richness, warmth and spice to the characteristic honey, vanilla notes.

Color:  Orange gold.

Nose:  Intensely floral and fruity, orange peel, lavender and coconut with a hint of nuts.

Body:  Smooth and full.

Palate:  Sweet tropical fruits, then the characteristic Balvenie honey notes and vanilla arrive. Background flavors of fresh fruit, spice and oak.

Finish:  Smooth and long lasting, with spicy rum notes and sweet oak.

SUGGESTED CHOCOLATE PAIRING

Chuao - Miel, Grignottine or Rio Caribe

Miel's honey nuttiness is a perfect foil, while Grignottine plays well with both the fruit and oak.   Whether you prefer milk or dark chocolate, the choice is yours.
