Glenmorangie Signet

Northern Highlands

Signet uses 15-20% chocolate malt added to its barley. This malt has been roasted and dried for a longer period of time making it more carmelized, a process familiar to brewers of porters and stout beers. This non-chillfiltered scotch is vatted from a combination of rare Glenmorangie vintages, some as old as 35 years. We believe it to be aged in exclusively made to order charred new oak casks and finished in Sherry casks. A winning combination born from a variety of malts, vintages and casks.

Age:  No age statement.

Color:  Dark amber.

Nose:  Bittersweet chocolate covered orange peel with roasted coffee bean emerging.

Palate:  Sherry cask influence is evident. Orange and chocolate flavors repeat with ginger, raisins and a growing coffee/tobacco toastiness. Spice hits on the back of the throat.

Finish:  Surprisingly dry finish.

ABV:  46%

Awards:  SFWSC 2010 Double Gold Medal.

SUGGESTED CHOCOLATE PAIRING

Chuao - Java and Grignottine

While Grignottine respects the sherry and orange notes of the scotch, our favorite pairing was with the Java bonbon.  The rich coffee buttercream enrobed in bittersweet dark chocolate hit the perfect note for this exciting new dram.

SUGGESTED CIGAR PAIRING

Tatuaje Cojonu 2006

A very sweet combination and a relaxing dessert. The caramel, vanilla and cinnamon sweetness of the cigar really add to the chocolate goodness of the Signet. Both malt and cigar are smooth, never overpowering making for a n excellent match.
