Matured for a minimum of 10 years in ex-bourbon casks then finished for a few more in selected French Sauterne barriques. This is immediately evident in the nose yet not overwhelming on the palate. A wonderful departure from the ubiquitous sherry finish, it still has a citrusy zing but presents a more balanced and complex experience. Age: 12 Years Old. Color: Golden apricots. Nose: Complex nose with Sauterne leading as honey, lemon cream, ginger and toasted almonds develop. Faint vanilla, sultanas date and spice are also evident. Body: Sweet and full bodied. Palate: Honey, apricots, lemon merinque and ginger are prevalent, with a faint pastry note and just a whisper of peat. Finish: Long and sweet but not cloying revealing marzipan, delicate oak and vanilla before spices return. ABV: 465 Awards: SFWC 2010 Gold Medal |

SUGGESTED CHOCOLATE PAIRINGChuao - Honey Truffle and MielThe orange blossom sweetness of the Honey Truffle makes for a luscious union with this scotch, while Miel accents the hint of maltiness in this wonderful dram. SUGGESTED CIGAR PAIRINGPerdomo Patriarch CorojoThis nutty brown Nicaraguan puro matches the sweetness of the Nectar d'Or flavor for flavor. The Patriarch begins with chocolate with berry sweetness and ends the session honey, caramel, leather and spice. Very nice! |
