A nicely spiced medium bodied smoke that is slightly sweet and very aromatic. Wrapped with an extraordinary Cameroon leaf from the Central African Rain Forest, and blended by the Fuente family using their finest 100% sun grown tobaccos, this cigar is rich, complex and exotic.
Pre-Smoke The Puro Sol is dressed in an ornate Ashton gold and red band, and the mottled dark brown wrapper exhibits little to very fine veining. The stick is firm and dense and very well constructed.
A sweet, spicy, earthy scent exudes from the wrapper. The well constructed cap clips cleanly, and a cold draw gives a sweetish flavor and is not too tight.
Burn
After toasting and lighting, we were impressed with the volume of bluish-white smoke this stick puts out, very mouth filling. The consistent burn leaves an ash that is very light in color, and flakes a bit, but generally stays tight to the cigar.
The Flavor In the first third, a light layering of ginger, cinnamon and nutmeg appears over the mild toasty, nutty base flavor. The smoke is also very fragrant with spice and fills the air.
As the burn progresses, the strength develops also, but never beyond a medium level. The smoothness and creaminess continues through the middle of the cigar, while the spice drops off.
A mild leather flavor dominates the final third with some nuttiness and a continuing dry sweet finish. The Puro Sol doesn't deliver the punch of, say a VSG, but it is a pleasant smoke nonetheless.
