A true medium-bodied smoke with a nutty aroma and hints of spice on the tongue, the Vintage 1992 features refinement and zest from a 10-year-old Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper united with underlying balance from 8-year-old filler tobaccos. The result is a highly renowned, highly rated cigar with complexity befitting the most discerning palate.
Pre-Smoke
These Sumatran wrappers are gorgeous, glistening with oil, fabulous dark mahogany color. The cigar is firm to the touch, but there is a slight give. A box press makes the cigar feel good in the hand and in the mouth.
Barnyard and spicy scents come off the wrapper, more chocolatey/coffee at the foot. The construction is great, the cap applied expertly. A clean clip and cold draw shows perfect airflow and tastes slightly of coffee.
Burn
Easily lit, the cigar burns with a fine line and gives off a mouthful of smoke with the slightest pull. The scent in the air is slightly sweet. A whitish gray ash is firm, and holds on well.
The Flavor
Even with the tightly packed tobaccos and box press, this baby always draws perfectly. Rich earthy flavors with notes of oak and almond roll off the tongue with each puff. The smoke is plentiful and very smooth with a slightly sweet scent. As the burn continues, the cigar transitions into deeper flavors of dark roasted espresso and chocolate. |
