Dark Sumatra is named after its wrapper tobaccos, hand-selected from the very darkest and richest Ecuadorian sun-grown, Sumatra seed leaves. Dark Sumatra also has a rich, textured Connecticut Broadleaf binder and a special robust blend of premium Honduran, Nicaraguan and Dominican filler tobaccos that contribute to the extraordinary taste of this cigar.
Wrapped in one of the darkest Sumatran leaves, this cigar is well constructed, very firm with no soft spots. Earthy scents come off the wrapper and foot, and a cold draw after clip is good.
An even burn, voluminous clouds of smoke and a firm but easy draw, what else can you ask for.
A strong coffee and dark chocolate flavor arrives within the first few puffs and carries through most of the cigar. This is a full flavored, medium strength smoke that is very smooth if you don't rush it.
Pepper and cedar ramp up in the beginning as well and then soften as the stick passes the middle mark. The espresso notes also tail off to an earthiness that gets a bit heavy and harsh at the end. Overall though this is a very satisfying smoke.
